2. Q:How to choose a right die plate?

A:First, you have to confirm the hole diameter:

Hole diameter=pellet diameter/extruding coefficient(for floating feed: 1.6-1.8, for sinking feed: 1.1-1.2);

Then you need to calculate the opening area of the die plate as per your extruder capacity :

Through the above computing, you will know the hole size and the number of holes in your die plate.

Besides, you also need to consider about the available pressing distance of the die plate. Die plates with less pressing distance is easy to make spherical pellets with porous surface; while die plates with longer pressing distance is good for making cylinder pellets with smooth surface.

3. Q:What is the solution for die plate blocking?

A:Further improving the cleanness of materials, grinding them as per the fineness standard for small-size extruded feeds;

Socking and cleaning the extruder components;

Increasing the number of knifes;

Using wheat flour or middling, not the wheat and corn with more fibers.

4. Q:When shall I change my die plate?

A:When rough pellet surface or uneven pellet length is watched, you need to check your die plate and change it if it is worn out;

When the pellets show that they are over cooked, check if the opening area of your die plate matches the equipment capacity or not. Change the die plate if it doesn’t match.
